YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A 52-year-old York man was killed Wednesday night while trying to change a tire on a median along Highway 161 in York County, troopers said.
Michael Kerns was changing a tire on his stranded 2004 Ford Expedition when they were struck by a westbound 2020 Lexus near Rocky Creek Road outside York at 10:35 p.m.
They died at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
The coroner is expected to release the name of the victim.
