Pumpkin patches near Austin (HANDOUT)

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Delightful by day, frightful by night, Carrigan Farms' fall events offer something for every age.

If you’re ready to pick the perfect pumpkin straight from the vine, the farm’s pumpkin patches open Thursday and will remain open through October.

This year, because of the pandemic, reservations are required for pumpkin picking.

The cost is $12 per person for ages 2 and older. A $2 non-refundable deposit per person is required to reserve a time and the remaining $10 is due when you arrive for your visit. Cash and checks are accepted for payment; credit cards are not accepted.

Face masks or coverings are also required whenever social distancing can’t be maintained.

By night, those looking for a Halloween fright can visit the Scarrigan Farms Haunted Trail beginning Friday. The outdoor trail and corn maze will be open on select nights through October. Reservations are required as well as face masks or coverings.

Admission costs $25 per person on Thursdays and Sundays and $30 per person on Fridays and Saturdays. A $5 deposit is required when you make your reservation and the remainder will be due at the door. Each guest will receive a $5 dining voucher to use at the Quarry Kitchen on the night of their visit in exchange for the deposit.

The haunted trail is not recommended for children younger than 12.
