Girl Tribe keeps growing

CHARLOTTE — When the pandemic prevented Charlotte-based entrepreneurs Girl Tribe from hosting their signature traveling pop-up events, founders Carrie Barker and Sarah Baucom did what they do best: they found a new way to thrive.

While the team poured their energy into boosting the brand’s e-commerce, another idea began to take shape.

“You can’t just sit and fold,” Barker said. “I think that’s really where a lot of our success has come from, is we just put our heads down, get through it, go to the next thing and learn as many things as you can.”

The pair’s latest concept, Girl Supply, recently opened at Birkdale Village in Huntersville. The 10,159-square-foot space, formerly occupied by Pier One, is colorful, Instagrammable and unmistakably Girl Tribe. Shoppers will find Girl Tribe signature items such as girly graphic tees and accessories, along with other women-led vendors selling goods.

“Experiential retail is kind of like a little buzzword right now, and the idea is that there’s so many things going on in this space where you can really experience retail,” Barker said. “You can take photos, you can have a workshop, you can have some wine with your girlfriend.”
