CONCORD, N.C. — After hosting several successful drive-in movie nights for charity last year, Charlotte Motor Speedway has announced a new summer movie series.
The speedway, in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC), will host three drive-in movie nights with all proceeds benefiting Speedway Children’s Charities’ efforts to support organizations that fight food insecurity across the greater Charlotte region.
During the “Drive-in to Drive Out Hunger” series, movies will be shown on the speedway’s 16,000-square-foot HDTV.
The first event is scheduled for June 30 featuring the animated movie “Trolls.” Fans can pack a picnic and tune in to the audio through their car radio. Fireworks will following the movie. Tickets for opening night cost $40 per vehicle, for up to 10 people.
Additional films and dates for the drive-in series include “The Peanuts Movie” on July 21 and “The Greatest Showman” on Aug. 11. Tickets for movies on July 21 and Aug. 11 cost $30 per car.
Gates open at 5 p.m. each night, with movies scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
