FORECAST:
- Scattered showers are expected to be on and off throughout the day, with rain totals possibly reaching as high as an inch.
- Skies will stay overcast and temperatures will remain cool, peaking in the low 50s late this afternoon.
- We’re still watching Sunday for heavy rain and strong to severe storms, though there’s some uncertainty about whether all of the severe weather ingredients will come together.
- A line of heavy rain and storms is expected to move west to east through the area.
- The mountains will start to see storms mid to late morning, with storms traveling through the Charlotte metro area closer to lunchtime and continuing east through the afternoon.
- Our area is under a slight risk of severe weather with all threats on the table. We may see heavy rain, which could cause isolated flooding issues, especially in low-lying, poor-drainage areas.
- Weather alerts may be needed starting tonight through Sunday noon shows. However, we should be clear by Sunday evening.
