FORECAST:
- Cold weather is in firm control but at least the weather is quiet, Chief Meteorologist John Ahrens said Thursday afternoon.
- It will stay that way at least through the start of the weekend.
- Highs on Friday and Saturday in Charlotte will be in the low 50s.
- There will be a threat of showers on Sunday but most will stay to the west.
- After a couple more chilly days, warmer temperatures return next week with highs in the mid-60s by Tuesday.
