FORECAST: Pattern continues as region braces for afternoon storms

FRIDAY: A few showers remained in the Charlotte area early Friday morning, but are drying up quickly. More storms will fire up again by the afternoon as temperatures heat up close to 90 degrees -- if we do hit 90 it would mark the first time so far this year.

Some storms may have gusty winds on top of the usual heavy rain and lightning threats. Another round of storms may pop up Saturday as well.

WEEKEND AHEAD: The summer steam doesn't let up this weekend either and more storm threats remain. By Sunday a cold front approaches and pushes through; bringing more clouds, a bit less heat and a better chance of pm/evening t-storms (60%).  Some of Sunday's storms may be more organized with a better chance of becoming strong/severe.

Hurricane season began Wednesday, and the next storm that forms will be named Colin.
