CHARLOTTE, N.C. — MONDAY: Heat will continue to be a major threat throughout the week.
Our meteorologists are tracking a possibility of temperatures reaching near 100 degrees by the weekend.
Chances of storms are higher south, east and in the mountains on Monday, which will allow the heat to rev up.
Highs will be around 90 degrees on Monday. There will be a 30 percent chance of showers.
REST OF THE WEEK: The front that is producing the unsettled weather will gradually move south and east early this week. This will cause the chances of rain to back down and the heat to crank up.
By the end of the week, we are looking at temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and only a small chance of storms in the afternoon. Temperatures are likely to get as hot as 98 degrees by Sunday.
There's also an area of low pressure in the Atlantic. It has a 40 percent chance for tropical development in the next five days.
The tropical weather is moving west towards the Caribbean, but Hurricane Hunters will be flying in to town Monday afternoon, if necessary.
