Temperatures equal one of the coolest days in August in 70 years

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Saturday, the weather is to remain rainy and cool over the Charlotte area – rain is expected to pick up by 6 p.m.

No thunder or lightning is expected, but flash flooding is a small possibility.

The top threat will be heavy downpours all over the area. Rain is expected to go through the rest of the evening and there will be plenty around by 10 p.m.

Rain is expected to wind down after midnight.

On Saturday, the rain is 65 degrees, one of the coolest ever for this date in 70 years.

Temperatures are expected to warm up, but only by a little on Sunday.

More rain will move into the area on Sunday, most of it will be west of Charlotte.

Temperatures are expected to be into the 80s on Monday with a few afternoon storms, but the remainder of the week is to be much cooler than typical August weather.
