CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The top weather story will be an approaching cold front that will head toward Charlotte armed with the coldest air yet.
The combination may be able to bring snow beyond the mountains and a little closer to the Charlotte metro area on Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
Monday's weather will be quiet and very nice. It will be chilly in the morning as temperatures sit in the middle 30s, but will warm up nicely in the evening into the 60s.
Tuesday will start out fine but clouds will move into the area in the afternoon.
As that front makes its way through the higher terrain, computer models strengthen it just a bit and push snow beyond the Appalachians Tuesday night.
However, at the same time this front will be rapidly running out of moisture.
That will cause any snow that tries to fall to dry out quickly. By the time this reaches Charlotte, flurries look to be the only main precipitation we will see.
Areas north and west of Charlotte stand a much better chance of seeing more snow fall from the clouds but accumulations are not likely at this time.
Temperatures on Thursday morning are expected to be in the lower 20s.
