Traffic backed up after tractor-trailer catches fire on I-485 in south Charlotte

Traffic was backed up for miles Monday after a tractor-trailer caught fire along Interstate 485 in south Charlotte.

Two lanes on the inner loop and the ramp to Interstate 77 northbound were shut down while firefighters worked to put out the flames.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene, where we could see smoke billowing from the truck’s trailer.

Traffic was at a standstill for miles and all lanes reopened just before 1 p.m.

There was no word on what sparked the fire.
