Spring is in the air and it’s ushering in pollen season with it. We love this time of year in Charlotte, but we don’t love the constant coat of green that seems to remain on our cars for weeks on end. And believe it or not, pollen is more than just annoying - it can actually damage your car’s paint. We’re here with N Charlotte Toyota tips to help you beat pollen season this year!
Why is it important to remove pollen from your N Charlotte Toyota
As noted, pollen can actually damage your vehicle if you don’t wash it off. It can oxidize the paint, which leaves unsightly stains that can’t be wiped off. In fact, to get rid of them you may have to spring for paint repair or even an entire car paint job. That’s why it’s critical to both prep your N Charlotte Toyota for pollen season AND take care of it while you’re in the midst of the season. Check out these four tips.
Tip #1: Prepare well ahead of time. You should prep your N Charlotte Toyota before pollen season even arrives to make your life easier. This means washing it and applying a few coats of quality wax. You don’t have to break the bank, but you should use a mid-grade wax (and our Charlotte Toyota parts store can help you choose one). This will provide a barrier in between your car’s paint and the pollen and protect it.
Tip #2: Don’t let pollen sit on the paint. You should never let pollen sit on your car’s paint - like we said, it can do irreversible damage. Make sure you wash your car often during pollen season (using the right type of soap - dish soap can actually strip the wax off of your car) and at worst, rinse it just to get the layer of pollen off.
Tip #3: Wipe out the interior and get under the hood. Don’t forget about the interior of your car, too - pollen will find its way in, trust us. You should wipe everything down and vacuum the seats and floor to keep it allergen-free. And don’t forget about under the hood! Pollen will work its way into the engine bay, too, so be sure to clean and change your engine air filter and your cabin air filter as often as possible.
Tip #4: Be strategic about your parking. Don’t forget to pick your parking spot carefully. It’s best to park inside of a garage if you can, but any sort of covered parking will help you make it through pollen season.
