Toyota of North Charlotte

Keep your pets safe in your N Charlotte Toyota!

Everyone loves to take their four-legged friends in the car, especially if you’re heading out of town for a road trip. However, bringing your pets along for the ride isn’t as simple as just seating them in the backseat – there are actually a lot of precautions you should take when you decide to bring along the family pet in the car for their safety AND your safety! Luckily, our N Charlotte Toyota dealership is here to help you nail down all the specifics before you get in the driver’s seat… read on!

Prep your N Charlotte Toyota for your pets!

Before you hit the road in your new Toyota near Charlotte, you should plan ahead. You know how you and your passengers like to get out to stretch, grab a bite to eat, and use the restroom? Well, your furry friends need the same thing! Plan your trip so you know where you can stop to walk them around, let them stretch and use the restroom, and feed them a snack. You should also pack accordingly – bring along dog treats, a bowl and some water, a blanket to keep them comfortable, and some toys to keep them occupied.

Now that you’ve planned your route, it’s time to figure out how to prep your new Toyota in N Charlotte! Besides the supplies, you need to know how you’re going to transport Fido. Here are some tips!
  • Consider putting your pet in a crate. Not only will it keep them from wandering around your new Toyota while you driving, it'll also keep them in one place if you get into an accident. A dog loose in the backseat can turn into a dangerous projectile before you know it if you get into a collision!
  • You might also consider putting your pet in a harness if you don't want to crate them when they're in your N Charlotte Toyota. This will give them a bit of security in an accident (like a seatbelt) and keep them from moving around while you hit the highway.
  • It's not a good idea to feed pets a heavy meal before transporting them in your new Toyota in N Charlotte – it can sometimes upset their stomachs and make them sick.
  • Never leave your pet in the car – never! Temperatures can climb rapidly, reaching over 100 degrees in just 20 minutes in your car… even with the windows cracked. The same goes for cold weather- you can seriously injure or even kill your pet by leaving them in the car. Make sure your stops are pet-friendly!
  • You should also avoid letting your pet stick their head out of the car window in your new Toyota near Charlotte. High winds can actually cause high pressure in their ears and subsequent damage, and they can also get hit in the head by objects outside of the car.
