Humane Society of Charlotte: Animal shelter guide

The Humane Society of Charlotte offers pet adoptions and volunteer opportunities.

The Humane Society of Charlotte has been working on reducing the amount of homeless pets since opening its doors in 1978. This Charlotte animal shelter is a no-kill philosophy, nonprofit shelter that works in support of the community to ensure the humane treatment of animals through adoption, educational resources and spay and neuter services.

Whether you're looking to adopt a new friend or to just lend a hand, here are a few ways you can help the Charlotte animal shelter.

Adopt

Caring for pets gives a sense of belonging and joy. There's something to be said about a furry friend greeting you after a long day or licking your face for no reason other than they love you. When you adopt, you're not only rescuing an animal in need, but you're also making room for new pets at the shelter to find homes.

The Charlotte Humane Society's animal shelter offers a variable adoption fee structure, allowing top quality care for all animals. Adoption fees are based on numerous factors, including age, size, temperament or breed. The basic adoption includes a veterinary and behavior screening and testing, spay and neuter procedures, all initial vaccinations, a microchip and 30 days of pet insurance.

Volunteering is easy with the Humane Society of Charlotte, and it's a great way to get involved with your community to help animals in need. There are a number of ways to showcase your volunteering skills, including basic animal care, fostering an animal or by making a donation. There are also tons of events, like the Pet Palooza and Walk for the Animals, to bring people together to celebrate and help animals and the community.
