CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly and Jonathan Stewart are all Carolina Panthers stars but Channel 9 wanted to know if anyone else with the same name ever gets a case of mistaken identities.
Channel 9 found Jonathan Stewart, not the running back, but the hair stylist.
He said people get excited when he calls to make a restaurant reservation or order pizza and he has to tell them he's not the Jonathan Stewart that plays for the NFC champions.
He said the first time of mistaken identity happened after the football player signed with the Panthers.
"A guy called me and I said, 'Hello' and he was like, 'Can I speak to Jonathan Stewart?' and I said, 'This is he.' (The caller said,) 'Oh my God! I finally got you! I've been following you since college!' And I'm like, 'Well, I went to beauty school so why would you be following me?'"
Stewart said he is a Panthers fan and that he shares a nickname with No. 28 as well -- J-Stew.
Channel 9 found at least two other Cam Newtons in the area along with a Josh Norman and several Thomas Davises.
