HICKORY, N.C. — The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears received an early Christmas present Tuesday morning as the university introduced Mike Kellar as its new head football coach.
Kellar was most recently head coach at California University of Pennsylvania where he oversaw a record-setting offense for several years.

He has also helped develop more than a half a dozen all-Americans during his coaching career.
"I've got four children who are all successful and they want to do right but they need dad's guidance and that's my job as head coach,” Kellar said Tuesday. “I need to give them the guidance to be do right people."
Kellar replaces Ian Shields who took a head coaching position at Jacksonville University.
