Why this longtime Charlotte restaurateur is expanding his newest concept

Link & Pin now open in Huntersville (MELISSA KEY/CBJ)

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Restaurateur Rob Duckworth believes his newest chef-driven restaurant concept has found its footing — despite the pandemic.

Link & Pin recently opened its second location at 9723 Sam Furr Road in Huntersville — formerly home to Mickey & Mooch. Duckworth has already nabbed a site for a third Link & Pin in south Charlotte as well.

The first location opened in South End in November 2019.

Duckworth says scaling the concept makes sense.

“We went into it with intentions of let’s create it so it’s scalable,” Duckworth says.

He’s also behind Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse with multiple locations from Huntersville to south Charlotte and The Cellar at Duckworth’s in uptown. He recently signed a lease for a new Duckworth’s in SouthPark.

“We’re in a town where those markets are very different. There are enough neighborhoods and submarkets,” Duckworth says.
