CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As part of its continuing commitment to the local community Channel 9 Eyewitness News, the number one local news source in Charlotte, has launched Eyewitness News at 7:00 p.m. The newscast will air weekdays on WSOC-TV’s sister station WAXN TV64.
The newscast will be anchored by veteran reporters/anchors Allison Latos and Damany Lewis. Each night Eyewitness News at 7:00 p.m. will narrow down the big stories from the day and provide additional insight at a time in the evening that is more convenient.
“The stories we cover are ones that will make an impact on our communities, our families and our decisions regarding both,” said Allison Latos. “This newscast allows us the time to sit down with community leaders and discuss how we can make Charlotte a better place to live.”
“Providing more in-depth local news content is key to serving our community,” said Cedric Thomas, WSOC-TV Vice President and General Manager. “This newscast is about conversations that lead to change.”
“Viewers won’t need to go searching within different resources to find out more on the day’s important stories,” said Damany Lewis. “Our focus is to cover those big stories with in-depth, investigative coverage for the viewers at home.”
TV64 is already home to Channel 9 Eyewitness News This Morning from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and offers an earlier late news option with Eyewitness News at 10:00 p.m. The 10PM is the #1 10PM newscast in the market.
