MIAMI — Fins to the left. Fins to the right.

Nearly, 1,400 pounds of dried shark fins worth up to $1 million, were seized by wildlife inspectors last month, WFOR reported.

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the fins were seized Jan. 24 at PortMiami, WTVJ reported. The fins were found in 18 boxes, and officials believe they were sent from South America and were headed to Asia, according to WFOR.

Inspectors said the total commercial value of the shipment was between $750,000 and $1 million, the television station reported.

“It is very big money stuff. It is very harmful to the ecology,” Bouncer Smith, a charter captain, told WFOR.
