Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has been projected to be the president-elect after many days of highly anticipated voting results from key states, including Pennsylvania, Nevada, Georgia and North Carolina.
Biden will address the nation Saturday night in a formal acceptance speech at 8 p.m. ET.
In a statement released Saturday morning, Biden said he is “honored and humbled.”
“I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect Harris," Biden said. "In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted. Proving once again, that democracy beats deep in the heart of America. With the campaign over, it’s time to put the anger and the harsh rhetoric behind us and come together as a nation. It’s time for America to unite. And to heal.”
America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country.

President Donald Trump said in a statement Saturday that he believes “Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner.”
Trump plans to open multiple lawsuits Monday to urge officials to recount votes in key states before announcing an official winner of the election.
Trump has not yet addressed the public regarding Biden’s projected win and is not expected to speak tonight. He has not conceded the race and wrote on Twitter Saturday morning that he believes he won the election “by a lot.”
I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!

According to CNN, Biden has spent the day with family at his home in Wilmington, Delaware. He’ll give a speech, which is already written but being tweaked, from the city. The theme of the speech will focus on “[restoring] the soul of the nation,” the network reported.
