SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — It just goes to show that a baseball game ain’t over ‘til it’s over.
UCLA’s college baseball team erased a nine-run deficit in the ninth inning to tie the game, then scored four runs in the bottom of the 10th to win a wild 25-22 decision at the Pac-12 Tournament on Saturday.
Reserve catcher Tommy Beres’ three-run walk-off homer was the difference for UCLA, which had tied the game again in the 10th after a bases-loaded balk, the Los Angeles Times reported. It was Beres’ first career college home run, Sports Illustrated reported.

“It was torture,” UCLA coach John Savage told reporters.
Second-seeded Oregon State got a measure of revenge after a 45-minute break, eliminating the No. 3 Bruins 8-7 in an elimination game later Saturday. UCLA rallied to score three runs in the nightcap before Oregon State won the game with a walk-off sacrifice fly, Sports Illustrated reported.
It was a disappointing end for a UCLA squad that staged two memorable comebacks.
