UCLA’s college baseball team erased a nine-run deficit in the ninth inning to tie the game, then scored four runs in the bottom of the 10th to win a wild 25-22 decision at the Pac-12 Tournament on Saturday.

Reserve catcher Tommy Beres’ three-run walk-off homer was the difference for UCLA, which had tied the game again in the 10th after a bases-loaded balk, the Los Angeles Times reported. It was Beres’ first career college home run, Sports Illustrated reported.

“It was torture,” UCLA coach John Savage told reporters.

Second-seeded Oregon State got a measure of revenge after a 45-minute break, eliminating the No. 3 Bruins 8-7 in an elimination game later Saturday. UCLA rallied to score three runs in the nightcap before Oregon State won the game with a walk-off sacrifice fly, Sports Illustrated reported.

It was a disappointing end for a UCLA squad that staged two memorable comebacks.

The first game lasted 5 hours, 44 minutes, the Times reported. UCLA used seven pitchers and Oregon State sent nine pitchers to the mound. The teams combined for 47 runs and 53 hits.

Beres came off the bench to go 3-for-4 with seven RBI, and teammate Kenny Oyama went 5-for-6 with five RBI.
