A woman whose “Family Feud Canada” appearance went terribly wrong terribly quickly walked away with a consolation prize from the unlikeliest of places: Popeye’s.
Contestant Eve Dubois’ oh-so-wrong response to an all-or-nothing question on the popular game show lost her family the match but got the attention of the fast-food chicken chain restaurant, CNN reported.
Watch below to see why.
Host Gerry Dee laid everything out for Dubois and her challenger.
"Real simple. There's one question. Only one answer. Whoever gets it, you're playing for $10,000. That's it. Whoever guesses this wins the game," Dee said, before asking the contestants to “name Popeye’s favorite food.”
With zero hesitation – and a little dance she later told Toronto’s City News was a reflection of her confidence – Dubois chirped, “Chicken.”
[The correct answer, by the way, is spinach.]
Dubois said she jumped the gun answering the question and did not actually hear the end of the clue and its reference to the animated sailor, City News reported.
Popeye’s then reached out via Twitter on Friday and offered Dubois $10,000 worth of menu items to help ease her public humiliation the lapse has caused.
