Target to give 375,000 frontline workers $500 bonus

They were the ones who made sure you were able to get the food and cleaning supplies, even those video games and sweat pants, needed during the past 10 months, and now Target is rewarding its frontline workers with a bonus.

The company announced Monday that all hourly employees in stores and distribution centers will be getting a $500 bonus.

Store directors, executive team leaders and salaried distribution center leaders will also be getting a bonus of between $1,000 to $2,000 each.

A company news release said the bonuses amount to a $200 million investment.

In addition to the bonuses, the company said it will extend its coronavirus benefits that include “waiving our absenteeism policy for coronavirus-related illnesses, providing free access to health care through virtual doctor visits for all team members, a 30-day paid leave for vulnerable team members, free backup care to all U.S.-based team members, mental health support through free counseling sessions, and more.”

The company has given various financial bonuses to employees throughout 2020 as well as starting a permanent minimum wage of $15.
