Netflix announced the show in November 2021, with Vergara not only starring but also acting as executive producer. She had been developing the series for eight years.
The six, 50-minute-long episodes will be directed by Andrés Baiz, Variety reported.
Blanco, who had the moniker “godmother,” ran one of the most powerful drug cartels from the 1980s through the early 2000s, “Today” reported.
Her story was also included in “Cocaine Cowboys,” a documentary released in 2006, as well as the biopic “Cocaine Godmother” where Welsh-born actor Catherine Zeta-Jones played Blanco, “Today” reported.
Variety reported that Jennifer Lopez is also developing a film on Blanco’s life called “The Godmother.”
The release date for “Griselda” has not been announced.
