Singer proves ‘the show must go on’ despite wardrobe malfunction on Broadway

NEW YORK — Ari Groover, the understudy for the lead role in “Tina – The Tina Turner Musical” on Broadway, shared a video on Instagram showing her finish a number on stage despite her wig flying off.

In a video posted to Instagram, Ari Groover posted the scene, showing that when she flipped her head during “Proud Mary” on March 18, her wig came off, landing on the stage in front of her. Without missing a beat, she picked it up and tossed it off stage. In the caption, Groover said, “And sometimes you just gotta dance your wig right on off!!!!”

Audience members were quick to cheer Groover’s performance. Ryan McPhee tweeted, “Ari Groover blew the roof off the Lunt-Fontanne tonight as Tina and then blew the wig off her head.”

Other fans agreed the wardrobe malfunction only heightened the performance, with fellow Broadway singer Syndee Winters saying, “She turned up the volume! That hair couldn’t handle it Ari!!” E! reported.

The live audience also seemed to cheer on the mishap, People magazine reported.
