The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of about 772,000 air fryers in the U.S. and Canada.
The CPSC said the recalled Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens can overheat and cause burns or fires. They were sold by Best Buy, eBay and Google from November 2018 through February 2022.
The following appliance model numbers are part of the recall:
- NS-AF32DBK9
- NS-AF32MBK9
- NS-AF50MBK9
- NS-AF53DSS0
- NS-AF53MSS0
- NS-AF55DBK9
- NS-AFO6DBK1
- NS-AFO6DSS1
The number can be found on a sticker affixed to the bottom of the appliance.
Consumers who own the impacted appliances are told to stop using them and return them to Best Buy for a refund, which will be in the form of a credit for use at brick-and-mortar Best Buys or online.
The refund will be a $50 credit or the amount shown on the purchase receipt if that is higher. Customers, however, do not need to have the receipt, the CPSC said.
Best Buy is contacting known purchasers directly to arrange a return and to provide shipping boxes and labels.
