GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police in Georgia are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a corrections officer Tuesday morning.
Scott Riner, 56, was shot just before 6:30 a.m. outside the Gwinnett County Correctional Center, WSB-TV reported. Riner had worked at the center for 10 years.
In a news release, the Gwinnett Police Department said its preliminary investigation shows Riner was in the parking lot outside the facility when he was shot.
Police shared a surveillance photo on Twitter as part of their investigation and said that no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Gwinnett Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating the murder of Senior Correctional Officer Scott Riner.

“It’s still too early to know if this could have been a random act or a targeted act, but we are following up on every avenue,” Gwinnett police spokesperson Jennifer Richter told WSB-TV.
The Gwinnett County Correctional Center houses minimum- and medium-security inmates who have been sentenced and assigned to supervised work crews, WSB-TV reported.
