PHILADELPHIA — A pregnant woman returning from her baby shower was fatally shot Saturday night in a Philadelphia neighborhood, authorities said.
The woman, 32, was seven months pregnant, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Her unborn child could not be saved, police said.
The woman was unloading baby shower gifts from a Kia Soul in the Crescentville section of Philadelphia when she was shot in the head and stomach at about 8:30 p.m. EST, according to the newspaper.

The woman, whose identity was not revealed, died at 9:06 p.m., while the baby died at 9:15 p.m., police said.
Police are calling the shooting a targeted hit.

“I mean, the person who did this couldn’t be more cowardly,” Deputy Commissioner Christine Coulter told WPVI. “We can’t stop people who are intent on shooting somebody ... It looks like someone was targeting her.”
No weapons were recovered from the scene, police said.
“She was a nice person up and down the street. It’s just sad,” Tom McDonald, a neighbor of the woman, told WPVI.
Coulter said violence in the city had to stop.

”The city is nearing 500 homicides. Children are getting shot, unborn children getting shot, what is the city doing about this?” Coulter told reporters. “The city as a whole is doing what we can.”
No arrests have been made, KYW reported.
