Deputies used fingerprints to identify the man as Randall Louis Lloyd, 59, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Preliminary autopsy results revealed that Lloyd died of natural causes pending toxicology results. He had ties to Eugene, Oregon, along with Washington and Idaho, KEZI-TV reported.

According to Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan, on March 31 deputies responded to a report of a suspicious wooden box that resembled a casket located at a rural cemetery near Harrisburg. The box was lying on the ground, Duncan said.

Deputies found the casket behind a tree at the cemetery, according to KEZI. Investigators spoke with members of the cemetery’s board of directors, who said there were no scheduled burials, the sheriff’s office said. The directors could not explain why the casket was left at the cemetery, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives are still investigating who left Lloyd’s body at the cemetery and why, KOIN-TV reported.
