DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — At least four people were injured after police said an explosion rocked a suburban Atlanta apartment complex Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the Dunwoody Police Department, authorities were called to the Arrive Perimeter apartments in DeKalb County at about 1:24 p.m. EDT, WSB-TV reported.
Update 5:50 p.m. EDT Sept. 12: Fire officials said that four people have been hospitalized with injuries after Sunday’s explosion, WSB-TV reported.

Update 4:44 p.m. EDT Sept. 12: According to the DeKalb Fire Department, there are reports of at least two people who are unaccounted for.
Update 3:52 p.m. EDT Sept. 12: Authorities said at least two people were injured, WSB-TV reported.
Original report: According to the television station, police encountered heavy gas fumes and began evacuating residents.

“It fairly well blew the building to pieces,” a Dunwoody officer told WSB.
Authorities said several people were transported to an area hospital with burn injuries, the television station reported. Roads surrounding the complex have been closed.
Atlanta Gas Light said in a statement that it had crews at the apartment complex offering assistance to emergency responders.

Eboni Thornton said she was in a moving truck outside the building and said she felt something fall on top of her vehicle, WSB reported.
“The leasing office was collapsed on the left side, the double doors were blown out and I could hear a lady screaming her head off,” Thornton told the television station.
