ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Minnesota man has been arrested and charged for allegedly shooting three people to death.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by The Associated Press, Antonio Dupree Wright, 41, has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder for a shooting over the weekend that killed three people and injured two.
Wright allegedly walked into a duplex in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sunday, raised a gun and started shooting people inside, according to the AP.
In a probable cause statement obtained by the AP, Maisha Spaulding, 44, was shot in the head first. Angelica Gonzales was shot in the face next, and then Cory Freeman, 42, was shot when he was trying to run away. Spaulding, Gonzales and Freeman all died from their injuries.
According to the AP, Wright wore a ski mask during the shooting. He also kept shooting others in the duplex. A man and a woman were both injured. Another man was found hiding under a couch during the attack. He survived, according to the criminal complaint obtained by the AP.
Witnesses told police that Wright is a heroin dealer who was very paranoid and had believed he was being tracked by federal officials, according to the AP. The witness also said that Wright allegedly has a connection to a gang and Chicago.
Wright was arrested in Chicago on Wednesday and will be extradited back to Minnesota, according to the AP.
According to the AP, Wright had been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder for a prior incident two days before, in which he allegedly put a gun to a man’s head who he thought snitched on him. Wright allegedly shot him four times and ran.
Wright has a lengthy criminal record, including eight prior felony convictions that include third-degree assault, armed robbery and drug possession, according to the criminal complaint obtained by the AP.
