New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft got a surprise birthday gift that most may only dream about.
Courtesy of rappers Jay-Z, Meek Mill and some of Kraft’s family members, the 80-year-old received a custom, drop-top blue Bentley on Sunday.
Meek Mill posted a video on his Instagram account of Kraft, who looked stunned, receiving the car.
According to ESPN, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, the chairman of Fanatics, presented Kraft the gift.
In the video posted on Instagram, Kraft appearing shocked, saying, “Oh my God! How did you get it?”
Rubin answered, “We have resources.”
Kraft, Rubin, Jay-Z and Mill came to know each other when they created the Reform Alliance, which aims to transform probation and parole guidelines in the United States.
Kraft met Mill when the rapper was in prison in 2018 for a parole violation, according to Yahoo Sports.
“It makes it clear to me that we have to do something with criminal justice reform,” Kraft said at the time. “His kind of case, in a situation like this, it’s really bad. I know some of our players in the NFL have talked about this and I see it firsthand: it’s just wrong. We have to find a way to correct it.”
According to its website, Reform Alliance “aims to transform probation and parole by changing laws, systems and culture to create real pathways to work and well-being.
“REFORM’s story starts with the unjust re-imprisonment of recording artist Meek Mill. The shocking two-to-four-year sentence he received for popping a wheelie spurred the international #FreeMeek movement, which led to release on bail and eventually his freedom,” the website explained.
According to the Autotrader website, a 2021 Bentley Continental convertible has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price range of $202,500 - $240,800. The car given to Kraft is a custom model.
