MINNEAPOLIS — A Minnesota man has died from a traumatic brain injury he suffered falling down the stairs at a football game in November.
Josh Engle was at the Vikings/Packers game on Nov. 21, when he fell down the steps at U.S. Bank Stadium, crashing into the barrier glass at the bottom, KFGO reported. Engle was taken to the hospital, where he was in a coma for more than three weeks before he died.
Engle’s wife, Amber, told KMSP that she was able to see video of her husband’s fall: “I watched him just kind of step into another seat and I don’t know what happened from there, but he was literally flying down the stairs after that, and then I saw him crash onto the bottom.”
In a statement, the Minnesota Vikings told KMSP: “Josh was a passionate Vikings fan, but more importantly, based on our conversations with his family, he was a loving husband, father, and friend. Our hearts go out to the entire Engle family during this difficult time.”
A GoFundMe set up for the family had raised $13,000 as of Monday morning.
