BEAUMONT, Calif. — Authorities discovered on Thursday the body of a bruised and malnourished 4-year-old girl they believe had been dead for several days.
Paramedics with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection responded to a report of someone having a seizure at a Beaumont home, KTLA reported.
According to a statement issued by police, paramedics discovered the visibly malnourished girl’s body upon entering the home, and “based on the rate of decomposition,” she appeared to have been dead for as many as two days, KABC reported.
First-responders performed CPR on an unresponsive woman found in the home. The unidentified woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, KTLA reported.
An unidentified man was also found at the home and taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, the TV station reported.
Authorities have not disclosed what substance led to the suspected overdoses.
