CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia couple lying in bed were hit by bullets when someone fired shots early Tuesday, authorities said.

The shooting happened in Carrollton around 3 a.m., WSB-TV reported.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said the incident appeared to be a drive-by shooting.

Authorities said the couple were injured in the shooting, but are expected to be OK. Deputies said four children were also inside when shots rang out. The victims were not identified.

The shooter is still on the loose, WSB-TV reported.

Neighbors told the television station they are terrified.

“I feel like I want to move, but I can’t, ya know?” one neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, told WSB-TV. “It’s scary, and I really don’t know what to do. Like, we don’t want this trouble.”

Another neighbor told the television station there was another drive-by-shooting at the same home two or three months ago. During that shooting, the neighbor said her house was also struck by bullets.

“Kids can’t play outside. There’s plenty of kids out here. They can’t do that because Lord knows what’s going to happen,” the neighbor told the television station. "The next car that comes by might be the one that kills them.”

Deputies said they are working to get a description of the vehicle.
