Crossbow-wielding man accused of robbing woman outside South Carolina hotel

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A South Carolina man has been accused of robbing a woman with a crossbow outside a Myrtle Beach hotel.

Carlton Staples, 42, of Murrells Inlet has been charged with armed robbery and possession of cocaine. He remained jailed on the charges Wednesday, stemming from the March 6 incident, WMBF reported.

According to an arrest warrant, Staples is accused of stepping out of a dark sport utility vehicle armed with a crossbow and stealing $800 from a woman’s purse outside the Polynesian Hotel, The Sun Times reported.

He is being held without bail, the newspaper reported.
