SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s first family is quarantining after the governor’s three children had contact with a police officer who later tested positive for COVID-19.
According to The Associated Press, Gov. Gavin Newsom revealed the news in a statement late Sunday.
“Late Friday evening, [first lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom] and I learned that 3 of our children had been exposed to an officer from the California Highway Patrol who had tested positive for COVID-19,” he tweeted. “Jen and I had no direct interaction with the officer and wish them a speedy recovery.”
Newsom added that he and the rest of the family tested negative for the virus on Sunday.
“However, consistent with local guidance, we will be quarantining for 14 days,” he wrote. “We are grateful for all the officers that keep our family safe and for every frontline worker who continues to go to work during this pandemic.”
