Caught red-handed: Watch Mississippi police lock up the Grinch, save Christmas

PEARL, Miss. — Mississippi authorities have taken down a hardened criminal suspected of orchestrating a crime spree that has terrorized residents of the greater Jackson area for weeks.

Officers with the Pearl Police Department not only apprehended the Grinch on Wednesday, but they also released video footage of the Santa impersonator’s crimes and arrest, WLBT reported.

According to authorities, the Grinch, of Brandon, was arrested leaving a home in the Country Place subdivision with a present he stole from under a family’s Christmas tree, WAPT reported.

Investigators also confirmed to the TV station that the Grinch was caught on surveillance video stealing gifts from the Pearl Senior Services Center and a store at the Outlets of Mississippi.

“I am so grateful to Pearl Police for saving Christmas and locking up that Grinch!” Santa Claus said in a statement released by the North Pole. “I look forward to all the children in Mississippi opening their presents Christmas morning and not having them stolen. Thank you, Pearl PD!”

The Grinch, age unknown, will be held without bond until Dec. 26, WLBT reported.
