The Baltimore Ravens have begun contact tracing after learning that a player on the football team tested positive early Monday for COVID-19, team officials announced.
The player, who the team declined to identify, began to self-quarantine after receiving his diagnosis, officials said.
“The health and safety of our players, staff and community continue to be our highest priority,” the Baltimore Ravens said in a statement. “We will continue to work closely with the NFL and our team doctors and will follow their guidance.”

In a post Monday on Twitter, Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey said he “got the Rona.”
“(H)opefully I’ll be back healthy soon,” he added.

The announcement comes one day after the Ravens faced off against the Pittsburgh Steelers, WPXI reported. The Ravens lost the game 28-24, according to the news station.

The U.S. continues to lead the world with the most number of coronavirus cases and the highest number of deaths. As of Monday, more than 9.2 million people nationwide have been diagnosed with the viral infection and over 231,000 people have died, according to numbers compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
Globally, more than 46 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported, causing over 1.2 million deaths.
