FLORENCE, S.C. — A 72-year-old Army veteran subdued a wanted man he found running through his backyard Saturday morning, authorities said.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office said John Earl was pushed by a man after asking him what he was doing running through his backyard, WPDE reported.
Earl responded by tackling the man, then hogtying him until deputies arrived. Officials had been searching for the man since Friday, WPDE reported. The suspect’s identity has not been released.
“I haven’t been pumped up like that in a long time. It felt good but it felt good when the officers came and put the cuffs on him and took him out. They’re some fine officers,” Earl said.
