GARRETT, Indiana — A juvenile is in custody in Indiana after a 3-year-old girl was allegedly put in a washer and dryer by her teenage babysitter and his friends, WANE reports.
The child, Raelyn Camp, and her 5-year-old sister were left in the care of the 14-year-old boy – a longtime family friend – while her mother spent time with family in Garrett, Indiana. When Missy Camp returned to pick up her daughters the next day, she found Raelyn covered in bruises, according to WANE.
The babysitter reportedly had friends over to the apartment, which Camp said was trashed upon her return. At some point, one or more of the teenagers allegedly put Raelyn Camp in a washing machine, and then a dryer, and turned the dryer on.
Missy Camp, the girl's mother, said that the 3-year-old hasn't been the same since the incident.
It's not the first time a babysitter has allegedly put a child in a dangerous situation. One Florida babysitter was accused of teaching a 10-year-old how to set off acid bombs, while parents in Oregon allegedly found their 1-year-old with a black eye the morning after leaving him with a babysitter.
Elsewhere, an Ohio sitter faces murder charges, accused of administering an adult dose of Benadryl to an 8-month-old in her care. And in May, a Colorado woman allegedly used two children she was babysitting in the robbery of a bank.
