Metcalf surprised 25 teachers at the Southcenter Mall JCPenney with $200 gift cards to buy back-to-school essentials.

"It means everything, teachers put in a lot of work that they are not credited for, but I love just giving back to the community," Metcalf said.

The school district was also presented with an additional $1,000 worth of socks and underwear.

Metcalf was inspired to give back after a 2017 survey from JCPenney found that a third of American parents worry about their child having enough socks and underwear for the school year, with the percentage jumping to 40 percent for those in low-income households.

Metcalf was drafted by the Seahawks in the second round with the 64th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

The 6-foot-4 inch, 230-pound former Ole Miss star stole the show at the NFL Combine in February when he ran a 4.33 40-yard dash – tied for the third fastest time at his position.

In the Seahawks first preseason game against the Broncos, Metcalf had one catch for 8 yards on four targets.

The Seahawks' next preseason game is Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
