NYC subway sets new dog rules, riders don't disappoint

NEW YORK — The authority that runs New York’s subway system has issued a new law: if a pet dog is on the subway it must be in a carrier.

That rule, which does not apply to service animals, has those using the Metropolitan Transit Authority routes coming up with creative ways to get their larger dogs legally on trains, People reported.

The MTA has not set what type of carrier must be used, so dog owners are looking for their biggest bags, suitcases, even an Ikea blue bag to skirt the rule.
