Lakharam pulled over and called 911. First responders arrived and helped deliver a 5-pound, 12-ounce girl just before 8:30 a.m., WABC reported.
"I'm still in shock, I'm just grateful for everyone that was here to help, I'm so grateful for you guys, thank you," Krissoondatt said about the medical personnel and Nassau County Police who responded to the scene.
The baby was transported in an ambulance to an area hospital, according to WNBC.
"Upon police arrival, Fourth Precinct police officers assisted a Nassau County Police Medic deliver a baby girl," Nassau County Police said in a statement to WINS. "The baby girl was then transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital (South Nassau Community Hospital) for treatment. The baby is healthy and doing fine."
The baby, who was due Aug. 13, is healthy and doing well, News12 Long Island reported.
Krissoondatt and Lakharam also have an 18-month-old daughter, WABC reported.
