Beronica Ruiz said a student at her son’s school had been bullying her child before he allegedly attacked her while she and her son were walking home from school.
Ruiz said she had picked up her son from The Gifted and Talented Academy in Passaic, New Jersey, last week when the student who'd been bullying her seventh grade son confronted her, her son and her 1-year-old daughter, WNBC reported.
Ruiz said that when she told him to stop, the boy punched her, knocking her unconscious. She woke up on a stretcher and was left with bruises and broken bones in her face.

Ruiz and her husband claim school officials had not been told about the bullying their son was experiencing until the parents told the school, including being told by other students to "go back to Mexico" and to "go behind the wall," Ruiz told WNBC.
The verbal abuse happened in the school's cafeteria, according to the family's attorney, NJ.com reported.
But once they were alerted by Ruiz’s husband Alfonso , administrators said they spoke to the students.
The vice principal told Ruiz that administrators were going to contact them, but had gotten busy, the attorney told NJ.com.
The school did not comment on the family's allegations, the North Jersey Record reported.
The family says it has forgiven the child who is accused of the attack, WNBC reported.
The student has been charged with aggravated assault, Passaic Mayor Hector Lora said, according to the Record.
