WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Penn. — A Philadelphia man, who was just released from prison Tuesday night, was back in jail Wednesday after immediately stealing a car from the jail parking lot with a 1-year-old inside, according to media reports.
Moments after Thomas Lee Williams, 36, left the Westmoreland County Prison, he attacked a woman in the parking lot and stole her car with her young grandchild inside, WCAU-TV reported.
He didn't get far, though. Williams crashed the car about 15 minutes later and was soon apprehended in nearby Woods, the Tribune-Review reported.
The child and his grandmother were treated at a local hospital, while Williams was taken back to jail on a $250,000 bond.
He’s facing an array of new charges, including assault, kidnapping, robbery and reckless endangerment.
Williams pled guilty to drug charges in 2017.
