KATY, Texas — Those high waters in Texas bring out sandbags. They also bring out alligators.
A 5-foot gator crawled near some railroad tracks in Katy, prompting a rescue from the humane division of the city's police department, KHOU reported.
Police wrote on Facebook that the reptile is now "in custody" after it was found on U.S. 90 early Friday. The alligator was found swimming in a puddle after a thunderstorm Thursday night, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Katy police shared several photographs on Facebook of the alligator, who was caught by game wardens.
“Subject is in custody!” police wrote.
Wardens with the Texas Parks & Wildlife department released the alligator to an unpopulated area outside the city limits, the Chronicle reported.
