TRACKING DORIAN: Myrtle Beach impact

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The center of the Hurricane Dorian has moved northeast of Myrtle Beach, but left behind plenty of rain.

Although there wasn't much damage from the storm, two tornadoes touched down early Thursday morning.

Cellphone video shows one of those tornadoes in North Myrtle Beach not far from the Intracoastal Waterway.

The tornado damaged the roof of several apartments and tore the siding off some buildings.

"All of the sudden, the windows broke through. Everything was swirling in our bedroom," resident Ann Zehr said. "I was screaming because it was very, very scary, but God saved us and we're OK, and that's the main thing, that we're OK."

Another was reported ripping through communities near Little River.

"What sounded like a loud truck but it must have been the tornado," resident Bob Taylor said. "The banging and the crashing against the front of our building and then that was it."

The area has already received about 8 inches of rain with about 3 more inches to come.
