HOLLYWOOD, Ca. — As daily headlines of the shocking allegations of domestic violence involving NFL players continue to outrage the nation, Dr. Phil will speak out about Ray and Janay Rice, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and the current media firestorm surrounding other NFL players accused of domestic violence such as Greg Hardy of the Carolina Panthers.
Dr. Phil will also explain why this is not just an NFL problem and how this is a "teachable moment in America." The episode airs today at 4 p.m. on WSOC Channel 9.
Dr. Phil will speak with Ray Rice's former Baltimore Ravens teammate Chris Johnson and his wife Mioshi, longtime friends of Rice and his wife Janay. Speaking with Dr. Phil, they will discuss their friendship with the couple, give an unexpected account of the Rice's marriage and tell how the Rices are doing since the release of the video that outraged the nation.
Chris and Mioshi also share how they both tragically lost close family members to domestic violence. Then, author Beverly Gooden will join the conversation to discuss why she decided to create the social media hashtag #WhyIStayed after the onslaught of criticism of Janay Rice's decision to stay with her husband.
