Thieves Hit Parking Lot Of Gastonia Apartment Complex

GASTONIA, N.C.,None — At least eight cars were broken into overnight on Wednesday at a Gastonia apartment complex.

"Our window got smashed in and they tried to take the radio," Yura Clairy, who lives at Ashley Arms Apartments, said.

The thieves caused several hundred dollars in damage when they smashed the driver's-side door, Clairy said.

Two cars at the Salvation Army on North Broad Street were also burglarized. Police said they are reviewing surveillance tape from that location.

"We haven't made any arrests. It's still under investigation," said Donna Lahser with the Gastonia Police Department. "We hope to. And in the meantime, if anybody sees anything, please call us."

There have been 15 vehicle break-ins in the past two days in Gastonia, police reports show. Police said people should remove all valuables from their cars, lock their doors and park in well-lit areas.
